Island of Dawn | Arcadia | Poporia | Val Aureum | Ostgarath

Only a short time ago, the Island of Dawn rose from the sea between the continents of Arun and Shara, throwing everything we know about the world into chaos. A scientific expedition left almost immediately from Velika to investigate the event and the mysterious new land itself.
There were mysteries enough to keep this team of scientists busy for years. How could a brand-new island be home to ancient ruins and relics? Why was it populated by wildlife, nature spirits, and demons?
Before they could do more than begin to ask questions, most members of the first expedition perished in a massed demon attack, while the expedition leader, Elleon, went missing and was presumed dead.
Arcadia is the northernmost province in Southern Arun. Its forests and ranches have traditionally been vital to the economy of Velika and, more recently, to the argon war effort.
Human loggers in Northern Arcadia have always had a delicate relationship with the faerie races, but in recent times this has escalated to a near-constant insurgency. What federation forces can be spared from the war struggle to keep supply routes open and the citizenry safe, but Kulkari and deva raids on human strongholds have made this once-peaceful agricultural and farming region into a perilous place for travelers and residents alike.
In the southwest part of the province, a verdant swampland has become home to the tuwangis—a culture that depends on frogs for sustenance, clothing, housing, and communication. Once reasonably peaceful, they have recently become antagonistic to anyone who ventures inside Tuwangi Mire.
Poporia is the seat of the Valkyon Federation’s last monarchy, ruled by an elin queen. The elins and poporis who live there have been formidable foes throughout history, despite their rather harmless appearance. The vampirs, another ancient race, have shared the province peacefully for many generations.
This province is also home to the Eldritch Academy, where the Witches of Vadoma have raised magical scholarship to an art form, collating research from all places and all ages of history to enhance arcane knowledge for all.
Pora Elinu, the capital, is built into a massive tree on the Lake of Tears. Popolion is larger, but politically less important.
This was the ancient stronghold of the giants, whose empire once spanned two continents, before the gods stopped them from conquering the entire world. Remnants of the once-mighty conquerors can still be found in the northwest regions of Val Aureum, living in thrall to Lokians, whose presence in the Colossal Ruins has grown both stronger and bolder in recent times.
The region is home to native kulkari tribes, while golems—remnants of giant technology from centuries past—roam the dunes in hunting packs. The desert town of Tulufan clings to water and life by a thread, while the more prosperous Chebika thrives on the border of the Freeholds, a former agricultural center that is fast becoming another Lokian stronghold.
Ostgarath is best known as the home to Castanica, the freewheeling castanic capital where anything goes. To the south is the wide open town of Cutthroat Harbor, ruled by the Red Lash pirates and rumored to be home to a thriving slave trade overseen by the Kazuur Syndicate.
To the north is the fiery caldera of Fyrmount, where young castanics venture for their crucible—the castanic coming-of-age trial. To the east are Mistmoor Island and Serpentis Isle, where rumors of dark doings include a gula-controlled trade in human flesh.
