Tales of conflict and struggle fill Essenia’s past. Humans, high elves, argons—even a god or two—fought over Essenia’s hills and forests. While Essenian Crest bears the most obvious scars, the toxic soils of Blightwood challenge settlers still. The otherworldly forest of Timeless Woods and the long, lush runs of Blessing Basin hint at Essenia’s true value.
Home primarily to humans and high elves, Essenia’s a prized destination for amani seeking more restful, lush settings. The scars from the argon invasion weathered away, but war is never far from Essenia. Ancient forces, both divine and mortal, invested a great deal in the province, and those who covet power are never in short supply.
Westonia is famed for its cool, stark beauty and for its eldritch shards. Hardy settlers from across the world journeyed to Westonia to carve their fortune out of its icy peaks. Looming over the province, with its original name lost to the ages, is the Citadel of Torment—an ancient castle overrun by unspeakable horrors.
Westonia is home to sirens and crystalline wendigos, along with wandering bands of Junaidar mercenaries and the odd giant or dracoloth. The wendigos guard the Azurice Shrine, a particularly rich field of eldritch shards, where they battle against anyone who tries to take their crystals. As the shards are useful for magical defense, such as those protecting Allemantheia, the Valkyon Federation wants those shards. If the federation can’t negotiate for them, they might well fight for them.
Nestled between two wild regions, Frontera is the heart of Val Palrada. Settlers and farmers came to Val Palrada seeking to tame the fecund land, but found themselves caught between warring tribes of orcans, the dark catacombs of Arachnaea, and the ancient Temple of Dagon, where nagas struggle to find some means of restoring Dagon to the world.
Worse yet are the forces of the Selvaras Legion, made up of deva mercenaries, and the strange outbreak that’s driven countless villagers mad and twisted the nearby constructs. Still, if someone can drive off the mutated creatures and Selvaras interlopers, then Val Palrada’s teeming hills and valleys might be the cornucopia that Southern Shara needs.
The scorched deserts of Val Elenium house ancient, terrible secrets. Empires rose and fell upon these sands. Massive relics mark the passing of the giants, while the ruins of Thunder Hold give the prion remnants hope that they might one day regain their ancient glories. For federation settlers, Val Elenium’s harsh nature is a point of pride. Anyone who can make their fortune in this bleak setting has more than proved their mettle.
The settlers battle kulkaris, arachnens, and prions as they fight to secure the region’s wealth and unlock the mysteries beneath its sands. Not everyone survives, however. Thulsa and Killian both maintain forces in Val Elenium, searching for some lost relic or power source—and they are not known for their hospitality.
The Veritas District is home to countless natural wonders preserved by Balder and Seren during the Age of Gods. Originally created by Balder to share with Seren, it became a sanctuary of knowledge as well as nature. Numerous sloths and mandrills wandered the lush paths and an ancient archive stored countless secrets. Watched over by an army of golems, the refuge lay inaccessible for years after Balder’s death.
Inexplicably, the golems recently stepped aside to allow newcomers into the refuge. Agents of the Mysterium came to study the gardens and wonders of Balder’s Temple, while the Hyderad Legacy, a faction devoted to the preservation of the natural world, came to help preserve it.
